Why adopt a senior pet

Senior animals are often the easiest to live with: their size and personality are already known, many are house-trained and past the chewing stage, and they are happy with a slower day. They also wait the longest, because most people walk past them to the puppies and kittens.

Ask the shelter what they know about the animal's health and any ongoing care it needs. Some shelters lower the adoption fee for seniors. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month.
