Privacy

AdoptNearby has no accounts, no forms and no tracking cookies. Our host keeps standard server logs for a short time to run the site. We count visits and page speed with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify or follow individual visitors. We also run Google Analytics so we can see which pages lead people to a shelter, a donation or the pet match quiz, and, once we have a Google Ad Grant, which of those free ads help. We set it up to store nothing on your device: no cookies, no saved ID. Each page view gets a new random number that is thrown away when you leave the page, so Google cannot connect your visits to each other or to you, and advertising features are switched off. Listing pages include a small image from RescueGroups.org that lets shelters see how many people viewed their animals; it identifies the listing, not you.

Saved pets. When you save a pet, the list is kept only in your own browser (its local storage, not a cookie). It is never sent to us with anything about you: to show whether each pet is still available, your browser asks us about the pets' listing numbers only. A calendar reminder goes into your own calendar, and a shared list link holds only those listing numbers. Clearing your browser data clears the list.

Links to shelters and rescues take you to sites with their own policies. Contact: support@adoptnearby.org.
