What your gift does

Every adoptable animal on AdoptNearby is listed and shared for free, whether or not anyone donates. Your gift does one of two things: it keeps that free work running (monthly and one-time gifts), or it adds extra attention for one animal you choose (a $10 boost).

What every animal gets free, and what a boost adds

Every animal, free	A boosted animal also gets
Listing	A page on AdoptNearby with photos and a link to apply, updated daily from the shelter or rescue.	A place in the Boosted pets row on our home page for 7 days, where every visitor sees it first.
Video	Our daily posts (one TikTok video and two Facebook posts a day, with Instagram coming soon) feature animals picked automatically, so any one animal may never be chosen.	Its own video, made for that animal and posted on our TikTok in addition to the daily post. We email the video to you within 7 days so you can share it too.
Who picks	Our system, which favors animals who have waited longest and smaller rescues.	You. Name the animal at checkout, or leave it blank and we pick one who has waited longest.

A boost never takes a spot away from another animal: the daily posts go on exactly as before, and the boosted video is extra. If the animal is adopted before its video is ready, which is the best outcome, we feature another animal from the same rescue and tell you which one.

The tools that make and schedule the videos, website hosting and the data feeds that bring in new animals every day, and reaching out to small rescues so their animals are listed. Today AdoptNearby has no paid staff. As it grows, the board may hire staff to do this work. We publish a yearly summary of what comes in and what goes out.

Local businesses

Vets, groomers, trainers and pet stores can support the daily posts for their city or state and be thanked on that page and in its videos. It is a thank-you, not an ad, and it never changes which animals are shown. Write to support@adoptnearby.org.
