Pumpernickel is exceptionally friendly and loves interacting with his human companions, often coming right over to greet you for gentle pets and tasty treats. He is an adventurous little guy who thoroughly enjoys exploring his surroundings and discovering new things. If you open the refrigerator, you'll hear his adorable squeaks, followed by enthusiastic "popcorning" hops all around his cage as he eagerly anticipates his absolute favorite treat: fresh vegetables! With his affectionate nature and lively spirit, Pumpernickel is ready to bring endless joy and charm to his forever home. He'd love to have a guinea pig friend!

Guinea pigs have wonderful personalities- they are gentle and we have yet to come across any who bite, and they keep a daytime schedule! They form close bonds with their people, similar to cats and dogs. Did you know they are able to recognize people based on scent, sound and sight?! These sweet animals make wonderful pets!

This website is updated daily. If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as "available for adoption", that means the animal is still in DPR's care. *Please note - we do not do on-site meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the guinea pig's foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the guinea pig. You can pick your guinea pig up "curb side". Guinea pigs can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR guinea pigs receive a vet check up prior to adoption! We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.
