Hoagie is an adorable Chinese hamster with a bit of a mysterious side. You might even call him a little “ghost hamster” because he’s so good at staying hidden! Spotting him during the day can feel like a special treat. Originally purchased for a young child, Hoagie found himself in a home that wasn’t the right fit, especially with a curious cat around. Thankfully, he’s now safe and looking for a quieter, more suitable forever home. He would do best with someone who understands that hamsters like Hoagie prefer a calm environment where they can feel secure and come out on their own terms. With patience and the right setup, he’ll continue to grow in confidence. If you appreciate a more low-key, fascinating little companion and enjoy those “peek-a-boo” moments, Hoagie might just be your perfect match.

Nocturnal and crepuscular: This hamster is most active during the evening and early morning hours, making it a great companion for those who are awake during those times. Very active: Expect your new friend to be highly energetic and playful, especially during its peak activity periods. A hamster wheel, tunnels, and toys will keep it entertained and help it burn off energy. Experienced handler: Due to its energetic nature and occasional nipping, this hamster would thrive in a home with an experienced pet owner who understands its behavior and needs.

What happens next

  1. Contact Northeast Animal Rescue using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Northeast Animal Rescue, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the small pets care guide so you arrive prepared.
