Notes from The SPCA for Monterey County

Hi I'm Mortadella a red-eared slider, and I'll grow to about 6-8 inches if I'm male or 10-12 inches if I'm female. I can live 20-30 years or more, so I'm a long-term commitment. My ideal home is a secure outdoor pond with plenty of swimming space, though I can also thrive in a large indoor aquarium with clean, filtered water. I need a dry basking area, UVB and heat lighting (if kept indoors), and a healthy diet of turtle pellets, leafy greens, and occasional protein. I may not enjoy being handled often, but with the right care, I'll be an active and rewarding companion for many years. If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.spcamc.org/exotics to fill out an adoption application or call SPCA Wildlife .
