Notes from Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, Inc.

Meet Maple & Coconut, two beautiful Mini Lop rabbits. Maple & Coconut have been through more than any rabbit should. In 2023, they arrived at Animal Care Centers showing signs of neglect—underweight, missing fur, and covered in mites. Just a couple of weeks later, The Brooklyn Cat Cafe took them in, where they healed and thrived until finding a home a year later.

Sadly, it wasn't their forever home, and they were returned two years after that. These two are a bonded pair of medium-sized rabbits. Coconut (light brown) is a 5-year-old neutered male, and Maple (brown & black) is a 3-year-old spayed female. You will often find them cuddled together. Coconut is the brave one who ventures out to map out and claim the new space by rubbing against any furniture. You will also find him standing on his hind legs, searching for treats. Maple would prefer to relax all day but will still follow her best friend around.

Maple & Coconut are incredibly loving rabbits. These two really do enjoy attention and affection from their humans. They will hop into your lap or nudge you when they want to be petted. To ensure their happiness, they need a quiet, spacious environment and regular, gentle handling, which is ideal for both first-time rabbit adopters and those familiar with rabbit care.
