Notes from Santa Barbara County Animal Services - Lompoc

Meet April Showers, a beautiful, sweet girl with a personality to match! April has a gorgeous dense white coat, striking ruby-red eyes, and a lovely long body. Those ruby eyes are extra special! April is what’s known as a red-eyed white (REW) rabbit. Her lack of pigment allows light to reflect from the blood vessels at the back of her eyes, creating that beautiful ruby-red color. It’s a fascinating genetic trait—and those unusual eyes give white rabbits like April such a distinctive and beautiful look. April is also a devoted mama—she raised the adorable Lionhead-mix trio Belle, Neve, and Lilly. Now that her babies are growing up, it’s April’s turn to find a home of her own! (Her kits are also looking for homes and may be adopted together, as they still share their baby bond and get along famously. You can look them up by name on the shelter website.)April Showers is very friendly, active, sweet, and easy to handle. She’s also a big fan of her greenies, which are definitely one way to win her heart! This girl is already spayed and vaccinated, so she’s ready for her next chapter and can be adopted right away! April has already shown what a loving, social bunny she is, She’s friendly with people, enjoys attention, and is active and curious about her surroundings. With a little time to settle into a new home, the gorgeous gal can build a strong bond with her family and become a wonderful companion. Rabbits are very adaptable, and once they feel safe and learn that their new people are there to care for them, they can become affectionate, playful members of the family with their own unique personalities and routines. Come meet April Showers and give this beautiful, sweet girl the loving home she deserves. She’s ready to leave shelter life behind and become someone’s cherished companion!
