Notes from Dog Gone Seattle Rescue

Animal Profile: Taylor isa 4-year-old 70 lb spayed female Doberman who is smart, intelligent, loyal, loving, and looking for a forever home. Taylor's rescue story began when she appeared on a rural property in Wapato with her nine puppies. The property owner was unwilling to feed or care for the family and threatened to let them starve. A rescue contact reached out for help, and because Taylor and her puppies were left outside exposed to the elements, they were brought into rescue together.

After spending a year in rescue, Taylor was adopted but returned shortly later when the family had a newborn baby and Taylor developed territorial behaviors. They didn't feel they were in a position to provide the attention or training she needed to be successful.

Since returning to the rescue, Taylor has blossomed. She has developed a great deal of confidence with new people and has become a volunteer favorite. She has learned obedience through play and built a fantastic game of tug! She loves to play with people.

Taylor has previously been fostered in a home with children, and she does fantastic with kids of all ages. While Taylor can live with well-matched dogs with slow introductions, she would thrive as an only dog. She does best with small dogs or puppies, and docile dogs; she does not do well with forward or dominant dogs, though she has learned to manage her big feelings on leash with training.

Taylor is house-trained, crate-trained, and settles nicely after some intentional interaction with her humans. She is treadmill trained, has a great game of tug, and has learned all the basics of obedience training with ease. Taylor would thrive in an experienced home with someone familiar with large working breeds. Her ideal home includes a secure fenced yard, and no small animals or livestock as she does have prey drive.
