Meet Skittles

Skittles is a 9-month-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a tiny body. He's adorable, sweet, and full of love, and he's ready to find a family that will cherish every moment with him.

This little guy enjoys making friends and has done well with other dogs. He has a friendly, affectionate nature and loves being around people. Based on his temperament, we think he would likely do well with respectful children, although proper introductions are always recommended.

Unfortunately, Skittles was diagnosed with a significant heart murmur during his veterinary evaluation. Our veterinarian suspects he may have pulmonic stenosis, a congenital heart condition that can affect blood flow from the heart. He has evidence of right-sided heart enlargement, and additional diagnostic testing with a veterinary cardiologist is recommended to better understand his condition and determine whether treatment may be beneficial.

At this time, Skittles is bright, happy, and enjoying life like any other young dog. However, prospective adopters should understand that his heart condition may affect his lifespan and could require future medical care.

While we know this diagnosis may cause some people to overlook him, we believe Skittles deserves the same chance at love and happiness as any other dog. He doesn't know he's different. He just knows that he loves treats, attention, and spending time with his friends.

His adoption fee is $300.

Because we don't observe our animals in home settings, we aren't able to guarantee whether he is housebroken.

Upon intake, every animal receives:

Spay/neuter surgery Microchip All age-appropriate vaccinations Blood and fecal testing (with treatment if needed) Flea, tick, and heartworm prevention A complimentary wellness exam 7-10 days after adoption

Adopters must be at least 21 years old and live within an hour of our facility.

Skittles may have a special medical consideration, but he also has a special heart full of love to give. He's looking for someone willing to see beyond his diagnosis and give him the happy, comfortable life he deserves.
