Notes from Dallas Pets Alive

Meet Onyx, a handsome 7-year-old, 80-pound black Shepherd mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for his people. Onyx originally came to Dallas Pets Alive through our Dogs Matter program while his owner focused on their recovery. Ultimately, his owner made the incredibly brave and loving decision to surrender him so he could have the stability and future he deserves.

Onyx is the total package. He is neutered, crate trained, potty trained, and up to date on his vaccines. He does well with kids, cats, and other dogs, and while he still has plenty of playful, high-energy moments, he is also incredibly gentle and sweet. He is the kind of dog who can keep up with activity and then settle in for affection when the fun is over.

Onyx has already experienced a lot of change, but he has handled it with so much resilience. Now he is ready for a forever family who will give him consistency, companionship, and plenty of love. If you are looking for a big, beautiful, playful Shepherd mix with a soft side, Onyx may be your guy.

All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. You can view all adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at http://dallaspetsalive.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/ For more information, you can email adopt@dallaspetsalive.org.

  1. Contact Dallas Pets Alive using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Dallas Pets Alive, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
