Meet Venus – A Playful, Affectionate Girl with So Much Love to Give! Location: Houston, TXLooking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling and happily curl up beside you after a day of adventures? Meet Venus, formerly known as Sheeva! Venus is a beautiful, energetic girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She's playful, affectionate, and absolutely loves being around her people. Whether she's wrestling with a canine friend, exploring the yard, or snuggling on the couch, Venus brings enthusiasm and love to everything she does. Personality & Favorite ThingsVenus is a confident, outgoing girl once she feels comfortable in her surroundings. She loves attention, gives plenty of kisses, and is always happy to join her favorite humans for some quality cuddle time. She's especially fond of playtime and enjoys a good wrestling match with other dogs. Venus is often the one to get the fun started! Although she has an energetic personality, she also knows how to settle down and relax when playtime is over. One of her foster family's favorite things about Venus is her affectionate side. After burning off some energy, she's more than happy to climb onto the couch and snuggle up beside you. Venus is a wonderful combination of playful enthusiasm and sweet companionship. Training & Home LifeVenus is still working on some of her household manners, but she's responsive to redirection and has made good progress in foster care. House Training: Venus is doing well with house training. Her only reported accidents were associated with digestive upset, and she had no accidents once her stomach issues resolved. Leash Training: She walks reasonably well until an interesting smell or distraction catches her attention. She can pull strongly and will benefit from continued leash training. Car Rides: Venus sometimes needs encouragement to get into the vehicle, but once inside, she travels well. Crate Training: She has not been individually crate trained. In foster care, she stayed in a laundry room with Athena, where she occasionally cried briefly before settling. Energy Level: Moderate to high. Venus enjoys active play but can settle down appropriately afterward. Household Manners: She may jump when excited and will benefit from continued training to help manage her enthusiasm. Food Manners: Venus is food motivated but has not shown food aggression. She may occasionally investigate countertops if something tempting is left within reach. Venus is an intelligent girl who responds well to consistent boundaries, patience, and positive reinforcement. Other Dogs, Cats & ChildrenVenus enjoys canine companionship and has lived with several other dogs, including medium and large breeds. She loves to play and has a confident, enthusiastic personality. Since spending time apart from Athena, Venus has continued to do well with other dogs on her own. This has been wonderful to see and suggests that having her own space and opportunities to build independence has been beneficial for her. Although Venus and Athena share a close bond, their foster family has observed that the girls sometimes amplify each other's excitement and barking. Separate homes may allow each of them to flourish individually. Venus could be a wonderful companion for another compatible dog, particularly one who enjoys an active play style. As with any adoption involving resident pets, thoughtful introductions will help ensure a successful match. Venus has also been around dog-savvy barn cats. She generally sniffed them and walked away when they remained still, but she would chase them if they ran. A home with cats would require careful introductions, supervision, and safe escape spaces for the cats. Venus has not been evaluated around children. Because of her size, strength, and tendency to jump when excited, a home with older, dog-savvy children or adults would be the best fit. Toddlers and very young children are not recommended. Meeting New PeopleVenus is incredibly affectionate with people she knows, but she can be cautious around strangers. When unfamiliar visitors arrive, she may bark and occasionally lunge while barking, particularly if she's feeling uncertain. She has shown more hesitation around men than women. Once Venus realizes someone is safe, she settles down and becomes her usual affectionate self, happily accepting attention and affection. Her future family should be willing to provide calm, gradual introductions and help her continue building confidence around new people. Medical InformationVenus has no known ongoing medical concerns reported by her foster family. Venus's Perfect Forever HomeVenus would thrive with an active, experienced family who appreciates her playful spirit and can provide the structure, patience, and affection she deserves. Her ideal home would offer:An active lifestyle with regular exercise and opportunities for play. Experience with large or giant breeds. A stable, supportive home where she can feel secure. Continued positive reinforcement training and leash work. Patient introductions to unfamiliar people. The opportunity to be an only dog or share her home with a compatible canine companion. Adults or older, dog-savvy children who can safely manage her size and enthusiasm. Plenty of opportunities for cuddles, companionship, and quality time with her people. Venus is a girl who loves wholeheartedly. She may need a little patience while adjusting to new surroundings and meeting unfamiliar faces, but once she feels safe, her sweet, affectionate personality shines. Could Venus Be Your Perfect Match? Venus has so much to offer the right family. She's playful, loving, intelligent, and full of personality. She enjoys an active lifestyle but also appreciates the simple pleasure of curling up beside someone she loves. She's shown that she can do well with other dogs independently, and with the right family, she has every opportunity to continue growing in confidence and becoming an incredible companion. She doesn't need a perfect home. She needs a family who understands her personality, respects her boundaries, and is committed to helping her continue growing into the wonderful dog she can be. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate girl who will fill your days with laughter, playtime, and plenty of cuddles, Venus may be the perfect addition to your family! Ready to Adopt Venus?
