Notes from Dachshund Rescue of Houston

Meet Knox Oath!

At just 1 year old and 16 pounds, Knox Oath is a bundle of energy, curiosity, and playful puppy charm! This busy boy wants to know what you’re doing at all times, and if you’re touching something, you can bet he’ll have his nose right there to investigate. Getting dressed can be an adventure with Knox around!

Knox LOVES, loves, loves to play, especially with squeaky toys! He also enjoys running the fence with the neighbor dogs in the backyard and would do well with a playful canine companion who can help him burn off some of that energy.

Knox seems to be house-trained, with just one accident on his first day, and he has already learned to use the doggie door. He was pretty wound up during his first few nights, but he’s beginning to settle into his new routine. With consistency, patience, and continued training, this smart boy should keep making progress.

Knox has occasionally shown some food or toy guarding, growling when he feels the need to protect something. While he has not bitten, this is something his future family will need to take seriously and work on through positive-reinforcement training and appropriate management.

Knox is looking for an active family ready for fun, games, and the commitment to help him learn his manners. He has plenty of energy to spare, a curious nose that never quits, and lots of playful personality packed into his 16-pound body. And when playtime is over? He’s happy to be a lap dog, too!

If you’re looking for a lively little sidekick who will keep you smiling and keep you on your toes, Knox Oath might just be your perfect match!
