Notes from Save the Strays Animal Rescue

Meet Rusty, a handsome 4-year-old border collie mixed with what we think is Great Dane. Rusty's world changed suddenly when his owner passed away, and it took some time for him to settle into a new environment. Now that he's more comfortable, he's beginning to let his true personality come out through zoomies, initiating play with other dogs and showing interest in toys. And treats? Yes, please! Rusty is still a bit on the nervous side and takes his time sizing you up. But once he decides you're okay, he wants to be close to you, especially outdoors. He'll get right down to business when he goes out, then runs back to check in with you or back to the door. His need for connection is one of his most endearing qualities, especially when he comes up and gives you a "hug." Rusty is calm in the house and reliably house trained. He'll make a great companion for someone who likes a larger dog that doesn't demand a lot of exercise and wants to stick by your side.
