Here’s Your Quick Peek:

Sadie is a gentle, quiet senior girl, estimated to be somewhere between 10 and 13 years young. She spent the first part of her life in a feral dog colony before learning that people could be kind. Then she spent nearly five wonderful years as a cherished family pet. When her family’s health failed and her people entered hospice care, Sadie returned to us.

Now she is looking for one more home — a peaceful place where she can spend her senior years loved, comfortable, and very much someone’s dog again.

Must have: A calm, quiet home; a patient person who will give her time to settle in; and a fenced yard.

Exercise: Low — short, easy strolls and time wandering or relaxing in a safely fenced yard suit Sadie just fine.

Best with: Adults or older, respectful children; a gentle canine companion; and people who appreciate the quiet company of an older dog.

Not ideal for: Busy, noisy households or homes where she would be expected to keep up with rough-and-tumble activity.

Energy level: Low — mellow, relaxed, and perfectly content with simple routines.

Sadie can be shy when she first meets new people, particularly men. Give her some time and let her make friends at her own pace, and you’ll discover an extraordinarily gentle, sweet dog who simply enjoys being near the people she trusts.

Medically, Sadie has chronic spondylitis from T13–L3 that is managed with daily Carprofen. She also has a small cyst on her right triceps that is not currently causing her any trouble. Overall, she is doing very well for a senior girl.

Good with dogs: Yes! Sadie is good with dogs large and small and genuinely enjoys having a canine buddy. At this stage in her life, she is looking more for companionship than wrestling matches, so a friendly dog who is happy to simply share life with her would be wonderful.

Good with kids: Unknown. We believe she would be best with older, respectful children who understand that Sadie likes a quiet life and needs a little time to get to know new people.

Cats: Unknown, but we would be happy to introduce Sadie to a few cats and see how she responds rather than guess.

Fun fact: Sadie’s idea of a really good day is not complicated. Give her a comfortable bed, a canine friend, someone she loves nearby, and a warm spot by the fire where she can watch the world go by.

After the first part of her life in a feral colony and the middle of her life as a cherished pet, we very much hope Sadie’s final chapter will be spent in a home — not a kennel.
