Notes from Joyful Rescues, Inc.

Benjamin was born around July 5, 2025 and weighs about 10 pounds. He is such a cutie and it seems he was shaved due to mating and fleas which are all gone now. His fur has grown in to be the most adorable soft, long'ish, waves! We do feel he is a dog that will shed. Benjamin came to us with a history of nipping and we accepted that he may just be one of those spicey Chihuahuas that the right household understands and loves. Because of this, no little kids in his next life, please. After about a month of living with this extremely loving little guy we did see this behavior and have noted it only happens when he gets over stimulated let's say by rough housing with human hands or a broom like object. It's all fun and games at first and then he gets carried away and begins to bite much harder than playing. Fortunately, we did stop play and verbally reprimanded immediately and he "got it". His eyes immediately softened and he came over to the human, cuddled in, and put his head on her chest! Oh my!!! Since then, we have seen this one more time with the same reprimand and immediate regret on Benjamin's demeanor. So going forward no playing with hands or other objects and surely no tug of war! We've heard so much about not playing tug of war with our dogs and this is a prime example of why and what could result from it. It is very possible this is the play he learned as a youngster. He is being wonderful with the other dogs here both large and small and loves to wrestle with them. We are told he is good with cats. Benjamin is good on leash and enjoys traveling in a car. We were also told that he is good about hanging around his humans when off leash and that makes sense because these little ones sure do become devoted once they love you! Once you become his bestie he is a major snuggler. Benny was not neutered when he came to us thus, he was struggling on some marking behavior. He is now neutered and we are working with him as likely you will need to also once he finds his forever home. We do like to always mention with these little ones that floor potty pads often make life so much easier to us and them. Ben is absolutely adorable, very inquisitive, and those eyes show how intelligent he is - someone out there is going to LOVE this little boy!

The Adoption Fee for this dog is $400.00.
