Beau
Labrador Retriever / Mixed · Young · Male · Medium · Willingboro, NJ
Notes from Burlington County Animal Alliance
Meet Beau! This handsome, labby boy is estimated to be 1–2 years old and weighs a little over 55 pounds. He has come a long way from the scared dog who once hid in the back of his shelter kennel, and now his goofy, happy personality is shining through! Beau is a high-energy, super smart boy who is looking for an active forever home where he can run, play, and continue learning. A secure, fenced-in yard is required for Beau so he has plenty of space to burn off his energy and enjoy being a dog. He does pull some on leash, but he is continuing to work on his leash manners. Beau is incredibly intelligent and eager to please, making him a great match for someone who genuinely enjoys training and wants to help a dog reach his full potential. He has participated in the New Leash on Life prison dog program, where he has been working on important skills like sit, stay, crate training, and leash manners. With his intelligence and willingness to learn, we truly think Beau could learn to do just about anything with the right person and some continued training! Beau is also a big, goofy boy who can be a bit of an awkward player. He loves to have fun, but sometimes he gets too rough without meaning to and doesn’t always realize just how big and strong he is. Because of this, we think Beau would do best as the only dog or with bigger dogs with similar play style. He would also do best with older children who are less likely to accidentally get knocked over by his enthusiastic, goofy self. Beau will thrive with someone who can give him structure, exercise, training, and plenty of mental stimulation. He is the kind of dog who will keep you laughing, keep you busy, and hopefully impress you with just how much he can learn. After everything Beau has been through, he is ready for the best part of his story: a forever home where he can finally feel safe, loved, included, and understood. If Beau sounds like the boy for you, please submit an adoption application at bcaaofnj.org.
