Daisy Jo
Great Pyrenees / Golden Retriever / Mixed (long coat) · Adult (2 years 11 months) · Female · X-Large · Newport, NH
Notes from Barking Dog Farm Rescue
Daisy Jo is a Great Pyrenees mix that was surrendered by her owners. She is three years old, spayed, approximately 110 lbs, house broken, very healthy and up to date on vaccines. She has always been on heart worm and flea and tick medication monthly. Her owners had her professionally groomed every three months.
She is good with other dogs, but not sure how she is with other animals, since she had only been around dogs. She is extremely gentle taking food or treats by hand but has some protectiveness when it comes to her food bowl and other dogs. No big deal feed her in her own space
We would love to see her placed in a home with another large breed dog since she loved playing with her canine brother a male German Shepherd until he passed away in late May of this year. Please visit our website for more info on our adoption process and adoption application www.barkdogfarm.org
Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees. They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash. You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries.
Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now. We only adopt in the New England area.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex.
A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called. A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place. If all are in agreement an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid. Adoption fees for dogs are $500. for adults over 12 months, $600 for puppies 12 months and younger as well as small breed dogs. Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate. Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months.
Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment.
