Notes from Iredell County Animal Services and Control Department

Coming to us as an owner surrender due to no fault of his own, Scout is searching for his true forever family! This sweet boy is a true lover of human affection and will even ignore playtime with his canine pals, to solicit all the human pets! He is super easy to both leash and walk, but be careful… he likes to randomly put on the brakes in the hopes that you will pick him up and carry him. We do our best oblige this ‘brake check’, not always able to give in to his ‘carry me’ antics. His favorite pastime is lying in the grass, soaking up the sunshine with humans while receiving gentle pets until both he and the human are almost asleep. Don’t ask us how we know this… we just know, okay?? He is working to add some weight, coming to us very underweight, so watch those fingers when giving a treat. He has met canine pals since arriving to us and did great, all tail wags and sniffs for everyone! His sights are always set on the humans present for such meetings, but he is always friendly and playful to his canine pals, too! Come and meet this sweet boy in person if you know for sure that forever is what you have to give Scout, with all the love and spoils he deserves! We are a first come, first served and in-person adoption center located at 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville, NC.Hours: Monday–Friday 12–5 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Meet and greets with other dogs and children are always recommended. We don’t know how he does with cats and have no way to test for this.
