Notes from Orange County Animal Services

My name is Piper and I came to the shelter with a broken leg that had to be amputated. I am doing well and adjusting to life as a tripod! I am also heartworm positive, but don't worry - OCAS covers my treatment. I am sweet and I like peope, but I have been reactive to other dogs in my kennel and its recommended that I have slow introductions with other animals. If you'd like to help me and other pets that enter the shelter with serious medical issues (such as the surgery I needed), please consider making a donation to the shelter. The Community Giving Fund is an easy way to donate online. Thank you!

What happens next

  1. Contact Orange County Animal Services using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Orange County Animal Services, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
