Notes from St Charles County Humane Services

MEET FINN! The brains, the energy, the potential! This 2-year-old German Shepherd mix was found at Indian Camp Creek by an amazing Samaritan, and it didn't take long for him to catch someone's eye! Finn headed out on a foster-to-adopt trial, but unfortunately, his love for chasing cats meant it wasn't the right fit. Now he's back at PAC, and we're looking for the person who can help this smart boy reach his full potential! Finn is one SMART cookie! He's already been learning commands like sit, down, and leave it in just a handful of days. He's treat-motivated, eager to learn when he can focus, and even started letting his foster know when he needed to go outside. Talk about a quick learner! This boy has energy, curiosity, and a brain that needs something to do! He loves treat puzzles, showed interest in our new A-frame, and could be a fantastic candidate for agility or other activities that challenge him both mentally and physically. Who knows what he could accomplish with the right person in his corner? Of course, Finn is still learning how to handle the world around him. New sights and sounds can make him nervous, and when he gets anxious or overly excited, he may jump, mouth, or react. He'll need someone patient and committed to helping him build confidence, practice good manners, and learn appropriate ways to manage all those big feelings. A very important note about Finn: He has a strong prey drive toward small animals and chased the cat in his foster home. Finn will need a home without cats or other small animals. An experienced adopter who understands his needs, can provide structure and continued training, and will prioritize safe management would be ideal. Secure fencing and supervision will also be important. And let's not forget the fun stuff! He enjoys drinking from the garden hose, loves a good food puzzle, and has that goofy, puppy-like energy that keeps life interesting. Finn isn't a finished product, and he's not going to be the right match for every home. But for the right person, he could be an incredibly rewarding dog to work with. Could you be the person Finn has been waiting for? Come meet him at the Pet Adoption Center and talk with our team about whether your home and lifestyle could be the right fit for this clever, energetic boy!
