Notes from Mower County Humane Society

Lenore came to the shelter on 8/14/2026 after being found loose in a rural area. We realized pretty quickly after her arrival that she was not alone, and she gave birth to 9 puppies on September 8th. She is finishing with her mom duties and she, along with her puppies, will be ready for adoption soon. Lenore is approximately 2 to 3 years old and appears to be a hound mix. She does have one blue eye so there could be some husky or Australian shepherd in there. She will be fully vetted, including her spay, on Nov. 13th and her fee is $150.

Lenore is truly a special dog. She loves people and wants nothing more than to hang with them. She has done a great job wrangling and raising her 9 babies. She is well mannered and happy-go-lucky. She might need a bit of basic obedience training but does pretty well with leash walking. We do think she would be okay with a nice male dog. Kids should be fine, too. We don't know about cats.

NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.

We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.

We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
