Notes from Mower County Humane Society

Katatin (pronounced "cat-uh-teen") is an approximately 7 year old chihuahua who came to the shelter as an owner surrender on 9/18/2026. He had been part of the same family for his whole life, but he had to be surrendered because his owner was moving to a place that did not allow pets. He can be a little bit shy at first but warms up quickly and loves attention and cuddling. Just let him set the pace. He doesn't like to be rushed. He has been fully vetted, including his neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and some dental work, and his fee is $150.

Katatin is a wonderfully spicy little dude. He has the typical chihuahua "tough guy" attitude, especially with larger dogs. We're thinking a quiet home without bigger dogs would be best. He might do okay with a well mannered small dog as long as it doesn't bug him too much. He has done okay with cats. An adult only home would be best. He likes short walks and loves to burrow under blankets. He keeps us all in line at the shelter!

NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.

We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.

We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
