Notes from Detroit Animal Care and Control

Chancey O’ Clancy A188376 51 lb. neutered male, approx 1 1/2 years old

-Meet this big, smooshy sweetheart! ❤️ He has a little hip quirk that makes his walk a bit wonky, but it doesn’t seem to bother him or cause him pain. The cause is unknown, but one thing is for sure: he doesn’t see himself as different, and he’s just looking for someone who will love him for exactly who he is. 🥹❤️

-This boy is ALL about having fun! In the yard, he was running around, playing with toys, and chasing tennis balls like he had not a single care in the world. He especially loves stuffies and proudly carries them around like his most prized possessions. 😂 Snacks are great, too, but sometimes he has a hard time deciding between the two. He might drop his toy for a treat… or he might try to figure out how to eat the treat with the toy still in his mouth. Priorities, people!

-He knows “sit,” takes treats nicely, and is a total lovebug who adores pets, cuddles, and giving kisses. Personal space? Never heard of it! This big boy will happily wiggle his way right into your bubble because being close to his people is exactly where he wants to be.

-He’s playful, goofy, affectionate, and full of life. He may walk a little differently, but his heart is as big as they come. He’s not looking for someone to feel sorry for him. He’s looking for someone to love him, play with him, snuggle him, and embrace every wonderfully goofy part of who he is. And trust me, there’s a LOT to love!

-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

•Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

•Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

•There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

•To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

•The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30

**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog.

**1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

What happens next

  1. Contact Detroit Animal Care and Control using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Detroit Animal Care and Control, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
