Notes from Detroit Animal Care and Control

Honey Nut A187900 34 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old

-This sweet girl has a fun, affectionate personality and a playful side! She needed a little reassurance walking past the barking dogs, but once we got into the hallway she was ready to go and wanted to run. She would stop every now and then to jump up for hugs and attention, and as soon as we reached the yard, she hopped right into my lap.

-She is very food motivated and is currently working on her sit and keeping all four paws on the floor. She can get pretty excited about treats, so she’ll need a little patience and consistency as she learns her manners. Once inside, she settled in nicely and enjoyed taking a long break between my legs for pets and belly rubs. She was still a little stressed and had some trouble fully settling, but she did relax more with time.

-She’s affectionate, gives kisses, and has a playful side too! She chased and played with a toy and really enjoyed a good game of tug. She seems to have a nice medium energy level and will make a fun companion for someone who can give her a little guidance, patience, and plenty of love.

-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

•Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

•Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

•There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

•To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

•The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30

**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog.
