Notes from Detroit Animal Care and Control
-FOSTER PUPDATE- Cooley A186978 45 lb. spayed female, approx 3 years old
🥜Cooley, who goes by Peanut in her foster home, is sweet, excited to see the world and loves everyone she sees.
🥜Cooley came into the shelter in terrible shape, but DACC got her cleaned up and she had time to heal while living in foster. While she may have had a rough start in life, she is absolutely thriving now.
Here are some of the important things to know: 🐾 Fully potty trained (had 2 accidents during decompression, but figured it out quickly). She even knows how to use potty bells, so she will let you know when she needs to go out! 🐾 Is fully crate trained. This, combined with only pooping once a day, could make her a perfect dog for a working family. 🐾 Came to the shelter heartworm positive, but she has done the 28 day regiment of medicine. Now all she needs are 2 final shots! 🐾 Is the most food motivated dog! She is an excellent candidate for positive reinforcement training (which she’s been doing). 🐾 Can sit, place, & stay (sometimes with attitude). 🐾 Can walk on a leash easily and loosely! If you pull out the treat bag, she will even allow bicycles, kids, and other animals to walk by without a second though. 🐾 Loves people but can be shy with strangers (until they give her a treat). She does seem to get more nervous around those in uniform (UPS, USPS, etc.) but, again, they can provide a treat as proof of friendship. 🐾 Will pick up multiple acorns on a walk (but does not swallow them, she spits them out when you tell her to). 🐾 Snores like a lawnmower (preferably right next to your ear). 🐾 Loves to have a spa night to file her nails down and get them painted like the pretty princess she is 🐾 She has a heart shaped nose that compliments her heart shaped spay tattoo. 🐾 Has wicked farts, as most pitties do 🤣 🐾 TINY!!! Peanut is very much a pocket sized pitty! She only weighs about 45 pounds. If you have a big enough purse, you could carry her around.
🥜Notes for her furever home: Peanut would be the perfect dog for a family or home with children above 10 that love going for walks, chilling on the couch and exploring. We say 10 because she has very excited energy and is still in the nibble play phase of puppy-ness. Nothing rough, just tiny playful nibbles until you tell her to stop.
🥜She has interacted with our neighborhood cat and seems chill with them, but that cat is a grumpy gus. It did seem like a good sign that, when the cat swatted her (mean!), she simply ran away and now she doesn’t like that street.
🥜She may do well with other dogs, but it would take proper introductions. She has interacted with other dogs on walks and seems quite happy and excited.
🥜Bonus: We, the foster family, do have everything needed to become a dog parent. We got all of this when bringing Peanut into our lives, but we really don't need duplicates. If you adopt her, we are more than happy to provide you with all of it (crate, bowls, Spark-paws harness, leash, toys, etc.) This pet is in a foster home!
