Notes from Detroit Animal Care and Control

-This sweet girl walks beautifully on leash with a nice, loose leash! She’s a little unsure of the world around her, and some of the traffic in the yard had her feeling nervous. Rather than trying to be brave all on her own, she climbed right into my lap for comfort. With some slow pets and calm reassurance, she started to relax in my arms and even began giving me kisses.-She’s a skinny girl with a BIG appetite, so treats are definitely the way to her heart! She’s still learning her manners around food and initially wanted to jump up to grab her snacks, but with some patience and practice, she started getting the hang of sitting and waiting. She is working on manners with taking treats, but she understands “easy” and “nice” and responds to those reminders.-Her favorite place to be? Curled up in a lap, soaking up pets and belly rubs! She even happily flopped onto her back and wiggled around on the blankets. Toys weren’t really her thing, but cuddles sure are!-This girl is a tenderhearted sweetheart who will need someone willing to go slowly, help her feel safe, and give her time to settle in. She’s trying her best, and with a little patience and a lot of love, I think she’s going to make someone a very special companion. Good girl!
