Notes from Detroit Animal Care and Control

-She’s a nervous, timid girl who will need someone willing to go slow and let her settle in at her own pace. Outside, she mostly kept to herself and wandered around exploring. Inside, she did more of the same but would occasionally come over to check in with me.-Snacks are definitely the way to her heart! She takes treats gently and they’re a great way to start building trust. She wasn’t sure what I was asking when I tried “sit,” and although she didn’t fully relax enough to sit or lie down with me, she would come close for pets and stick around to enjoy them. Once she felt comfortable enough, she even gave me a couple of little kisses.-She’s going to need time, patience, and a person who understands that trust can’t be rushed. Give this girl the space to settle in and discover that she’s safe, and let her blossom at her own pace.
