Notes from Prince Georges County Animal Management Division

Rio A573517Meet Rio — the little wallflower waiting to bloom Rio is a 10-month-old puppy who's still figuring out how big and wonderful the world can be. He came to the shelter with other dogs and is unsure of things, and honestly? That's okay. He's not the guy who's going to bounce off the walls or demand your attention right away — but give him time, and I think he'll be something really special. When we spent time together, Rio did best when I gave him space. The rain kept us indoors, and while the interaction room wasn't his favorite spot he showed that something important: he's a dog who knows what he needs. That's a good thing. Rio seems to find comfort in other dogs — he met another pup named Rowan and seemed a bit more open when face to face. A confident, balanced canine pal in his forever home could help him see that people are pretty great too. A few things to know about Rio:Leash life: He's still learning the ropes and tends to want to run when leashed. A secure yard or patience on walks will go a long way. Not motivated by stuff: Toys and treats didn't grab his interest yet — his currency is trust, not snacks. The real Rio: I think once he feels safe and settled, his little personality is going to blossom. He's a young boy who just needs confidence, patience, and someone who understands that love looks like giving him space to come to you. He's a great size, still a puppy at heart, and so worthy of a home that sees his potential. Rio isn't looking for someone to `fix` him. He's looking for someone to believe in him while he figures things out at his own pace. Watch my video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ddwmx63RMtQ/?stkn=MTdzMWR6Z3FrZm9r
