Notes from Ripley County Humane Society

Those beautiful eyes are sure to catch your attention, but Steely is hoping someone will look a little deeper and give him the chance he deserves! Steely is a handsome, one-year-old Husky mix who is still learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. He’s a very timid boy who takes his time trusting new people. He may not be the pup who rushes up to greet you right away, but with patience, kindness, and a little reassurance, we hope he’ll learn that he can feel safe and loved. Once Steely feels comfortable, he has a playful side, too! He enjoys playing with other dogs and walks great on a leash. He’s a medium-sized guy who is also crate-trained, making him a wonderful companion for someone willing to help him continue building confidence. Steely does not do well with cats or small-breed dogs, and a secure fence is recommended to keep this handsome boy safe. Steely needs a patient, understanding home that will let him settle in at his own pace. He needs someone who won’t expect him to trust overnight, but who will celebrate every little victory along the way. Steely may need a little extra time to open his heart, but he’s worth getting to know. Could you be the person who shows him that he doesn’t have to be afraid and that he finally has a family he can count on? If you would like to meet any of our pets, they are available for viewing, every single day from noon until 3:30pm. If you have other dogs a meet and greet is required. Calling before a long drive is recommended to confirm availability.
