Notes from Wish Bone Canine Rescue

Meet Sable! This beautiful two-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog weighs 57 lbs. and is a sweet, laid-back girl looking for a home where she can feel safe and settle in at her own pace. Sable is a shy, reserved soul who takes a few days to warm up to new people, but once she feels comfortable, she wants to stay close to her people. She can be especially nervous around men, so she'll appreciate a patient family willing to give her the time and space she needs to build trust.

Sable is house-trained and finds comfort in having her crate available as a safe space, with the door left open. She also loves sleeping in bed with her foster parents! She's discovering the fun of toys and is starting to enjoy them more and more. While she's indifferent to other dogs and hasn't quite figured out how to play with them, she doesn't mind having them around. A calm, easygoing canine companion could be a great fit for her.

Because Sable is uncomfortable with lots of movement, a home without small children would be best. Her ideal family would offer a quieter environment, plenty of patience, a secure fenced yard, and possibly a calm dog to keep her company. With time, understanding, and a little encouragement, Sable has so much potential to blossom into a loving and loyal companion.

Her minimum adoption fee is $400 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
