Notes from Dogs are Deserving

Poppyseed is a very loving dog driven by companionship, treats, and love. She is a family dog, mostly interested in the people within her home, or family members she's gotten to know. She enjoys being by your side when in the house, snuggling on the couch! She prefers being a couch potato to playing with toys, but enjoys walks and chasing each other around the yard. She is a very tolerant and polite dog, happily allowing grooming and is uninterested in external stimuli, leading her to be rather quiet. She is eager to please and knows sit, crate, and sometimes paw!

Poppyseed should only go home with a family that will allow her to be close. I would not recommend her to a family that does not allow pets on furniture, as she is happiest touching her family members when in the home. She is a family dog and is rather uninterested in strangers initially.

What happens next

  1. Contact Dogs are Deserving using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Dogs are Deserving, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
