Notes from Wish Bone Canine Rescue

Meet Doris, a 6-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix who weighs about 22 pounds and is equal parts torpedo, cuddle bug, and love!

Doris may be one of the most adorably cuddly puppies ever. She LOVES to snuggle and wants to be right beside her people whenever possible. She’s friendly, confident, playful, and wonderfully adaptable, with a knack for catching on to new commands quickly. Basically, she’s got the brains, the personality, and the snuggles.

Doris loves playing with toys, chewing on appropriate things, romping with her dog friends, and getting a case of the puppy crazies before settling down for some quality cuddle time. She needs regular exercise and playtime, but she’s not nearly as high-energy as you might expect from a puppy. Give her a fenced yard and she’d happily spend hours lounging in the sunshine.

She’s nearly house-trained and does well in her crate, although she may have a few things to say when she first goes in. She’s still teething, so keeping her supplied with good chew toys is important. She does have some mild separation anxiety and can get a little creative with her chewing when left alone, so continued guidance will help her learn that furniture is not, in fact, a chew toy.

Doris loves dogs and is wonderful with children, although her enthusiastic puppy teeth mean she could accidentally knock over or nip a very small child while she’s still teething. She can also live with dog-savvy cats. She’s not a runner and is surprisingly polite when doors open, but she’d still love a fenced yard for safe outdoor lounging.

If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, happy-go-lucky puppy who can go from full-speed puppy antics to full-body snuggles in record time, Doris is ready to wiggle her way into your family!

Her minimum adoption fee is $325 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
