Notes from Starfish Animal Rescue

Meet Ole Red!

Ole Red is a sweet, six-year-old Redbone Coonhound weighing 45 lbs, with a heart as big as his name suggests. Ole Red is house-trained and an absolute love bug who adores other dogs and people alike; he truly never meets a stranger. He would make a wonderful, loyal companion for the right family ready to give him the happy, healthy life he deserves. Ole Red came to us heartworm positive and received treatment once in Starfish foster's care. He will need a recheck test in a few months - Starfish will cover the cost.

If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch!

The adoption fee of $350 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!

*Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

What happens next

  1. Contact Starfish Animal Rescue using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Starfish Animal Rescue, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
