Notes from Hope Animal Rescue of Iowa

Meet Boone!

Boone is an approximately 14-week-old, 18-pound rugged little country boy with a nose for adventure who may be a Black Mouth Cur/Lab mix. This sweet boy has a story to tell and a whole lot of growing, learning, and flourishing left to do!

Boone, four of his siblings, and their mama were rescued after roaming at large in a rural Oklahoma town for many weeks. Four of the puppies made their way to Iowa in mid-October and have been decompressing, adjusting to indoor life, and discovering what it means to be a puppy in a safe and loving environment.

Boone and his sister Daisy share a foster home and rely heavily on each other for security. Both are slowly learning to trust humans and are taking their cues from their foster siblings.

Of the two, Boone is the more timid and stand-offish, but underneath that uncertainty is a little boy who so desperately wants to be loved. He wants to be right there beside you, to be cuddled and reassured, but he hasn't quite found the courage to let his guard down yet. He just needs someone willing to let him move at his own pace and show him that the world can be a safe and wonderful place.

Together, Boone and Daisy are becoming typical, mischievous puppies! They find joy in every new discovery, get into a little trouble along the way, and love enjoying the cooler autumn days in their fenced-in backyard.

Boone would benefit tremendously from having a friendly, confident canine companion in his forever home to serve as a role model, help him navigate new experiences, and reinforce the lessons he’ll need to become a well-adjusted, confident dog. He needs a committed, patient adopter who understands that earning his trust takes time and consistency. With steady guidance, structure, encouragement, and plenty of love, Boone can build his confidence, develop his potential, and grow into the strong, loyal, and devoted companion he is meant to be.

Boone's Details:

Male | Approximately 14 weeks old 19 pounds | Possible Black Mouth Cur/Lab mix Neuter and rabies vaccination scheduled for Wednesday, November 4 Would thrive with a friendly canine companion Needs a patient, committed adopter to help build his confidence

Boone may need a little extra time and effort to feel safe, but there is something incredibly special about earning the trust of a timid little soul. Watching him discover the joy of being loved will make every step of the journey worthwhile.

Could you be the special person who gives Boone the patience, security, and unconditional love he needs to reach his full potential?
