Notes from Street Paws

Bones was rescued by CCHS from the street very, very malnourished and neglected trying to defend for himself. Bones is a very sweet boy who just loves to give and receive all the LOVE in the world. He had fought against all odds handed to him to live and seek the life he so desperately deserves. He came to CCHS frightened, scared, malnourished and feeling defeated. He quickly picked up the name Bones from us not just because of his appearance but he was bad to the bone strong and showed so much courage and will to thrive. We put him on a complete loving care treatment and he regained his strength, optimal weight, opened up to trusting us and blossoming up with his full loving personality. Bones gets along with children and other dogs. He would make a great addition to your home and family. Bones is in great health and ready to be adopted into his forever home.

Adoptions are generally limited to an approximately 150-mile radius of Jonesboro, Georgia. Exceptions may be considered under certain circumstances.

To apply to adopt, please complete our Preliminary Adoption Application. Submitting an application does not commit you to adopting. It allows us to determine whether the pet is a good match for your home and family.

As part of the approval process, we verify the veterinary history of current and previous pets, including annual vaccinations and spay/neuter status. Please contact your veterinarian in advance and authorize them to release this information to Clayton County Humane Society.

Dog adoption fees range from $250 to $400. Each dog receives:

Age-appropriate vaccinations

Spay or neuter surgery

Heartworm testing and treatment, if necessary

Deworming

Flea prevention

A microchip registered to the adopter

You must have an approved application before scheduling a meeting with a pet. For additional information, please email info@streetpaws.org.

What happens next

  1. Contact Street Paws using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Street Paws, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
