Nuka
American Pit Bull Terrier / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat) · Young (1 year 7 months) · Male · Medium · Locust Grove, GA
Notes from Street Paws
LARGE BREED EXPERIENCED ONLY. FENCED YARD.
If you love a dog that loves being right next to you, then Nuka is your guy. He loves to play "catch me", but he will sit or lay near (or on top) of you quietly. He plays well with other dogs that he has been slowly introduced to. Nuka is an inside dog only. He warms up to strangers after being properly introduced. He is also the kitchen vacuum. You will never experience crumbs on your floor again! He is still learning boundaries, but he has come a very long way for having had no training for an extended period early on. A perfect home would be with adults and teens (no small children). He loves walks, but does prefer to investigate the yard on his own. He knows most of his basic commands, but he is also an independent thinker that needs an experienced owner to finish out his training.
Adoptions are generally limited to an approximately 150-mile radius of Locust Grove, Georgia. Exceptions may be considered under certain circumstances.
To apply to adopt, please complete our Preliminary Adoption Application. Submitting an application does not commit you to adopting. It allows us to determine whether the pet is a good match for your home and family.
As part of the approval process, we verify the veterinary history of current and previous pets, including annual vaccinations and spay/neuter status. Please contact your veterinarian in advance and authorize them to release this information to Street Paws.
Dog adoption fees range from $250 to $400. Each dog receives:
Age-appropriate vaccinations
Spay or neuter surgery
Heartworm testing and treatment, if necessary
Deworming
Flea prevention
A microchip registered to the adopter
You must have an approved application before scheduling a meeting with a pet. For additional information, please email info@streetpaws.org.

What happens next
- Contact Street Paws using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
- They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
- Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Street Paws, never to AdoptNearby.
- Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
