Notes from Dachshund Adoption Rescue & Education (DARE)

Hi, I'm Molly! I'll be 16 this November, and I'm not slowing down. I still get my half-mile walk on a leash, I still go after a squeaky toy like it owes me money, and I still believe baby carrots are the best snack ever made. Between all that, I take several well-earned naps a day, because a lady should be well rested. I don't hear much these days, so I don't worry about thunder, doorbells, or the vacuum. I just carry on with my day, and I'd love to do it next to you.

My Ideal Home A calm, patient home with someone who thinks seniors are the best thing going. I get along with other dogs, cats, older kids, and women. I'm house-trained and crate-trained, so I already know how this works.

A Few Important Things to Know

Hearing: I seem to be deaf. I won't come when you call me, so I need to be on a leash or in a securely fenced yard at all times. I respond well to hand signals and eye contact. Please wake me with a gentle touch or by stomping on the floor so the vibration reaches me. I might startle if someone walks up behind me. Senior care: At almost 16, I'll need regular vet checkups and someone ready for the extra care that comes with my age. Older children only: Young kids can be a lot for a girl my age, and I can't hear them coming. Older children who know how to be gentle are a better fit.

What I Bring to the Table I spent my whole life with one person. When she had to move into a nursing home, I came to DARE. I've only known love, and I'm ready to be someone's girl again. I'm sturdy, active, and easy to live with, and I know how to show up for my person. If you want a sweet, low-drama companion with plenty of life (and plenty of squeaker-hunting) left in her, I'm waiting for you.
