Notes from Marion County Animal Services

Kirk came to us on 11/20/25, found injured and immobile, needing care and treatment. After a full recovery, Kirk is ready to find his forever home. While his past has left him a bit shy and anxious, he’s showing steady progress as he learns to trust again. Though initially reserved, Kirk’s sweet, calm nature shines through as he gains confidence. Kirk enjoys outdoor activities, especially walks on trails, though he’s a bit nervous on paved paths and around bicycles. He’s generally calm with people but can be anxious in new or unfamiliar situations. In playgroup with other dogs, Kirk was initially uncomfortable but showed minor assertiveness and selective interactions. He’s warming up to new experiences with time and patience. Kirk would do best in a quiet, patient home where he can continue to build his confidence. He needs an owner or family who understands the value of gradual exposure to new experiences. With love and consistency, Kirk will continue to grow into a loving and loyal companion. If you’re looking for a dog who will thrive in a supportive environment, Kirk could be the perfect match for you.
