LUNA
American Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat) · Senior (10 years) · Female · Medium · Ocala, FL
Notes from Marion County Animal Services
Luna is a senior girl who deserves a soft place to land and a chance to enjoy her golden years. The shelter environment has been stressful for her, but she has recently shown encouraging progress outside her kennel. During a playgroup with other dogs, Luna started out a little stiff but gradually relaxed, offered some play, and remained responsive to her handler. These moments show that she has the potential to feel more comfortable when given time, patience, and a calmer environment. Luna does have some ongoing medical needs, including KCS, a chronic eye condition requiring lifelong medication, along with skin allergies and an ear infection that are currently being treated. She is fearful of handling in the kennel, which has made her daily eye care challenging, and she has started behavioral medication to help ease her anxiety. Luna will need a patient, understanding home that can help her feel secure while keeping up with her medical care. For someone willing to give a deserving senior the time she needs to settle in and build trust, Luna deserves the chance to show what life outside the shelter can be like.
