Notes from Dachshund Adoption Rescue & Education (DARE)

Hi, I'm George! I'm about 2 years old, sleek and black, and I'm a loyal guy. My favorite place is wherever you are. Errands, walks, the couch: if you're going, I'm going. I love leashed walks, I take my squeaky toys very seriously, and at bedtime I'd like to sleep in bed with my person, please. (I'll also sleep in a crate without complaining. I'm flexible like that.) I'm also on volunteer security duty. If someone comes to the porch or the back door, I'll make sure you know about it.

My Ideal Home An active home that likes to bring me along. I'm good with other dogs, older children, men, and women. I'd love someone who enjoys daily walks and wants a shadow who follows them everywhere.

A Few Important Things to Know

Energy level: I'm young and have plenty of energy. I do best with daily walks and playtime, not a mostly sedentary home. Alert barker: I announce visitors at the front and back doors. Some people love having a built-in doorbell. Others may want to work on it with me.

What I Bring to the Table I'm sweet, adaptable, and devoted. Once I'm yours, I'm all in. My first person loved me very much, and I lost her recently. I'm ready to give all that loyalty to someone new. If you want a buddy who'll walk with you, ride with you, sleep next to you, and keep an eye on the doors, I'm your guy.
