Notes from Marion County Animal Services

Peaches is a sweet, gentle girl who is ready to enjoy a little extra kindness and comfort. She arrived at the shelter underweight but has been gaining weight and showing us more of her loving personality. Volunteers describe her as affectionate, a little shy, and easy to handle, with a low-key energy level and excellent leash manners. She enjoys leisurely walks, exploring the yard, and tasty treats, and she has been wonderful with the adults she has met. Peaches is also working on basic skills like “sit” and “search,” and her gentle nature makes her a lovely companion for someone who appreciates a calmer pace. Peaches’ previous owner reported concerns about her behavior around other dogs, so thoughtful introductions and careful placement are important. In playgroup, she has shown interest in greeting other dogs but can sometimes be a little too firm in correcting them, especially if they are pushy or don’t respect her space. She remains responsive to her handlers, and she seems most comfortable with dogs who give her room to communicate. Peaches would benefit from a calm, nurturing home where she can continue gaining weight, build confidence, and enjoy the stability she deserves. With patience and the right match, this gentle girl has so much potential to blossom.
