Notes from Marion County Animal Services

Meet Bonsai! This sweet, shy girl came to the shelter as a stray and is still learning that people can be trusted. She is very nervous and needs a little time and patience to feel comfortable, but she is already showing small signs of progress. Bonsai is hesitant with handling and may retreat when she feels overwhelmed. Treats have helped her slowly come closer, and with a gentle approach, she is beginning to show more curiosity. She needs a quiet, patient home where she can decompress, build confidence, and learn at her own pace. Bonsai also shows promise with other dogs! She may start out nervous, but she allows appropriate greetings, warms up, and can become playful. She is soft in her interactions and responds appropriately to corrections. With time, patience, and a little encouragement, Bonsai could blossom into a wonderful companion.
