Notes from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

BLACKIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Blackie Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix Best Guess for Age: 5 months as of Oct. 2026 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight (still growing!): 25.4lbs as of 10/5

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster

Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Blackie is Looking For: Hiya! Me and my sister Mollie are the age of perfect puppy perfection! We are past all the crazy super young puppy stage but we're still young enough to be adaptable and filled with silly cuteness. I can't wait to take lots of walks and go on other adventures. Oh, and I'd love a chance to play with other pups as much as possible. That's really fun!! What My Foster Says About Me: Blackie is a smart, curious, and people-loving pup who enjoys exploring his surroundings and soaking up attention, especially from kids! He’s already learning commands like “sit” and “come here” and responds well to gentle redirection. While he’s still building confidence around traffic and new experiences, he shows potential to continue growing with patience, encouragement, and love. Blackie is ready to find a home where he can learn, explore, and thrive!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .

  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, never to AdoptNearby.
