RUSTY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Rusty Best Guess for Breed: Black mouth cur mix

Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of October 2026 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 31 pounds as of October 2026 - still has a little growing to do.

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster

Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Rusty is Looking For: My forever family! I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. But most of all I want to know I'm safe and loved, where I belong. I have so many kisses and so much love and loyalty to give in return. What do you say? Do I get to go home with you? What My Foster Says About Me: Rusty has been a dream! He gets along great with my resident dog and has even been brave at the dog park, starting with one dog but even feeling just as playful with a pack! He is the biggest snuggle bug and thinks he’s the size of a lap dog. He has been doing well with the crate, quietly whining for the first minute but going to sleep very quickly. He loves TV (he was thankful when the Scooby Doo villain turned out to be a person and not a monster) and FaceTime. He started off very shy and timid but has learned he can do hard things (going down the stairs) even when he’s a little nervous and has quickly become an explorer! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
