KONG NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Kong Best Guess for Breed: Great Pyrenees Mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of September 2026 SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 76lbs as of September 2026 Gets Along With: Other dogs! Kong has lived with kids and has done really well. We haven't seen them with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster! Special adoption considerations: Kong is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Kong is Looking For: A forever home! This bundle of joy is so happy to be safe and is now ready for a family…look… he’s so excited to meet you he can’t even sit still for his photos! Because of his young age, he will need plenty of exercise, mental enrichment, and socialization with other dogs. He’d also love some treats and toys and a cozy spot to rest when he gets tired. In return, he promises to be a loving companion for years to come. Do you think Freddy is the one for you?
