Notes from Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue Group

Forever home wanted, meet handsome, adorable and loving Calvin! Oh, to be a black dog in the shelter means being overlooked, add to that a senior too then you're destined to definitely overstay your welcome! He was originally brought into the shelter on August 10th as a stray and adopted on August 18th. Luckily for Calvin, he was at one of the rural shelters where dogs get some extra time. Calvin was also a volunteer and staff favorite, so he got lots and lots of loving.

Due to housing issues, Calvin was surrendered to the shelter by his owner back on September 12th. The owner was kind enough to leave very helpful information about Calvin that helps us with placement. Calvin is good with all people. He lived with teenagers, small children and babies. He lived with both male and female dogs and cats! Sadly, he mostly lived outside and can be easily scared with loud noises like fireworks and thunder. Calvin seems to walk well on the leash and rides nicely in the car.

Calvin had a tumor like growth on his face that the shelter had removed. They believe it was a lipoma and has recovered nicely. We were able to get Calvin out of the shelter when it was getting close to his time to run out because a foster stepped up for him. He is being fostered with other dogs, so we'll get to know more about him. He just arrived to us on October 22nd, so as we learn more, we'll update his bio.

If you are interested in meeting Calvin, please fill out and application at labradrorsandfriends.org. Calvin is located in Southern California.
