Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat) · Adult (4 years) · Female · Large · San Jose, CA
Notes from San Jose Animal Care Center
Roxanne has been placed on FINAL as of 11/2/2026. She must be pulled by 5:00 PM 11/2/2026 on she will be humanely euthanized. While in the shelter, Roxanne has demonstrated a high level of Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS). She appears shut down in her kennel and does not approach when called by her handler. When taken to the yard, Roxanne continued to display fearful and avoidant behaviors, including trembling and keeping her distance from staff. She has also demonstrated difficulty tolerating leash handling, flailing while on leash. These behaviors suggest that Roxanne is experiencing significant stress in the shelter environment. Roxanne's observed behaviors indicate that she may need additional time, patience, and support to feel comfortable around people and in unfamiliar environments. Her behavior will not improve in the stressful shelter environment. The constant high levels of FAS she experiences are not sustainable.(10/26/26 11:58 Medical update - Roxanne was noted to have diffuse dental wear from hard chewing and has 2 or more chronically fractured and worn canine teeth that will likely need extraction in the future) Roxanne is available for rescue or adoption with a waiver only. A rescue partner must commit to and pull Roxanne by 5:00 PM on 11/2/2026, or she will be humanely euthanized.
