Notes from Yolo County Animal Services Shelter

Meet August - 74 Pounds of Love, Wrinkles, and Wisdom! August is a 3-year-old Mastiff mix with a giant head, an even bigger heart, and the kind of forehead wrinkles that make you wonder if he's contemplating all of life's greatest mysteries. This sweet boy has an incredibly calm, gentle demeanor. With those adorable wrinkles and soulful eyes, he gives off serious `wise old man trapped in a 3-year-old dog's body` energy. He looks like he has some very important thoughts, although they're probably mostly about treats, naps, and why you stopped petting him. August is an absolute pleasure to walk! He usually walks at a nice, relaxed pace with very minimal pulling. Spending time with him feels more like a peaceful stroll with an old friend than a workout. Don't let his laid-back personality fool you! August also has a playful side and absolutely loves a good game of fetch. He's a smart boy, too, and already knows the commands for sit and give paw. When it comes to affection, August doesn't believe in personal space! During a recent meet-and-greet, he completely fell in love with one of his visitors, happily sitting on him and showering him with kisses. Apparently, August believes that the best place for a 74-pound dog is directly in someone's lap! Despite his impressive size, August is simply a soft, affectionate sweetheart with so much love to give. He seems like the kind of dog who would be happiest just being part of a family, whether that means playing fetch in the yard, enjoying leisurely walks, or snuggling up beside his favorite humans. Meet August by making an appointment through yoloshelter.org/dogs, or email adopt@yoloshelter.org.
