Notes from Monterey County Animal Services
Meet Max, a sweet and personable 2-year-old Border Collie mix with so much life ahead of him. He enjoys connecting with people and did well with children at a Paws to Read event earlier this year. Max is looking for a close bond with his person. He wants to be included in everyday life and feel like a cherished member of the family. Kennels and crates aren’t his favorite, so a home that can offer him companionship and help him settle in with patience would be a wonderful fit. Currently, most likely due to kenneling, Max can be reactive around other dogs, so he’ll need thoughtful management and space from canine triggers until he decompresses. His initial behavior assessment showed he was calm and relaxed around other dog. We suggest introductions always be thoughtful and managed for comfort of all. Max may also pull on leash and could benefit from building his leash skills and learning basic obedience. We hope to find Max the person who sees what a loving companion he can be and is ready to help him feel safe, included, and at home. At just two years old, he has so much life—and love—to share.
